Many households experience food insecurity periodically, such as in times of unemployment or periods when utility bills are higher than normal. In Illinois in 2018, one of out of every 10 households was food insecure.
Some of the groups most highly-impacted by food insecurity include children, individuals with disabilities, and families living at or below the poverty line.
